 ROTARY INTERNATIONAL

 January 2009

 Dear Rotaract Club President:

Recently the 2008-09 Rotaract Committee met at Rotary International World Headquarters and had the opportunity to hear a presentation about Rotary"s US$100 Million Challenge. Recognizing the tremendous achievements made toward the eradication of polio, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given The Rotary Foundation a US$100 million grant for its PolioPlus program. This is a challenge grant, and Rotary has agreed to raise an additional US$100 million during the next three years to match these funds.

This provides a unique opportunity for Rotaract to be involved in the eradication

of polio and the chance to work together with others in the Rotary family to fulfill our commitment to the children of the world. The Rotaract Committee set a goal of US$100 per year for each Rotaract club in 2008-09, 2009-10, and 2010-11.

Enclosed you will find a contribution form designed specifically for your club"s use. Rotaract clubs reaching the annual US$100 goal will receive a certificate from RI at the end of the year. Rotaractors and others who wish to make individual contributions should donate online at www.rotary.org/EndPolio.

We hope that your Rotaract club will reach out to the community to raise awareness of polio and of Rotary"s eradication efforts. Holding public fundraisers are a great way to spread the word in your community while helping your club reach its goal for the year. Together, Rotaractors and Rotarians could raise twice the challenge grant's goal. If you need any help organizing a fundraiser or need fundraising ideas, please contact Rotary Foundation staff at:

 rotary"s100millionchallenge@rotary.org.

Thank you for dedication to Rotaract. With your support, we will be able to meet

this challenge and END POLIO NOW.
